World War II was just the beginning for my grandfather, then a combat infantryman in the 1st Filipino Infantry Regiment, where he contributed to Allied efforts in New Guinea, the Philippine Liberation Campaigns, and eventual victory for Allied countries in the global war. He went on to lead an astonishing and distinguished career in the United States Army that he served honorably and with excellence.
